** This
installation includes screening of found footage and connecting/opposing the
context of the two following events. First event is a conquest by a group of
Russian alpinists of the Communist peak, once the highest peak of Soviet Union.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, the peak became a part of new country,
Tajikistan, and was renamed. After its geographical renaming Communist peak literary
disappeared from the map, the same as the county it once symbolized. The second
video is a found footage of the 2014 operation of Russian military forces which
resulted in the annexation of Crimea and specifically the region of Ai-Petri
mountain, a symbol of Crimea which once belonged to Ukraine, another former
Soviet republic.
